Six letters, a funeral notice, and a photograph pertain to Col. James Edmund Bailey, 49th Tennessee Infantry Regiment, CSA, and U.S. Senator from Montgomery County, Tennessee. His letters principally deal with conditions at Fort Donelson, Tennessee, 1861-1862; one letter, 1878, deals with the silver question.
